The Presenter

RTÉ Presenter, Scott De Buitléir

Scott De Buitléir is 21 years old and from Clontarf in Dublin. He has just finished a degree in Irish and Welsh in University College Dublin. As well as being a radio presenter since the age of 15, he is a published Irish-language poet, and also writes for Irish-language magazine, Nós*.

He started his radio career at the age of 15, when he got the opportunity to present his own radio show on DCALfm. In 2005 and at the age of 17, he won Comórtas Réalt DJ – a competition (in association with the Broadcasting Commision of Ireland and Foras na Gaeilge) aimed to find young Irish-speaking radio presenters. For that he got the opportunity to work with commercial station Spin1038 and with the national chart radio show, Top40 Oifigiúil na hÉireann for over a year.

After his first exposure to commercial radio, Scott returned to community radio to present An Clár Bán-Dearg, a show aimed at the LGBT community on Irish-language station Raidió na Life. He presented this with fellow Irish-speaking DJ, Seán Ó Briain, AKA DJ SeánJohn.

After the show ended, Scott took a small break from radio until taking up the job with new digital station, RTÉ Pulse.
